The first part of the video, entitled Baile del Candil, is devoted to the first steps taken by flamenco dancing, and to its roots. Isabel de Madrid dances el Vito; Arcadio Larrea talks about the origins of flamenco; Aurora Pons and Alberto Fuentes dance to panaderos de Sevilla; gypsies from the Sacromonte in Granada dance fandangos, the mosca and the cachucha; and Gloria Menderik and Pablo Rodarte re-create a dance in a rondeña style.
The second part, entitled 'Poetry and Flamenco', includes tarantos, soleares and bulerías performed by the bailaora (female flamenco dancer) Milagros, and is introduced by the flamencologist Fernando Quiñones Chozas.
The third and final part is also presented by Quiñones and focuses on the dancer Tomás de Madrid, who was part of the most important Spanish dance companies. He performs a farruca, Extremaduran jaleos and tangos.
