In November 2010 UNESCO included flamenco on the World Immaterial Cultural Heritage list, the most important cultural heritage distinction, comparable to that of World Heritage.

According to the historical documents recovered to date flamenco has over 160 years of history, and has been growing constantly thanks to brave, powerful and inspired performers, it has crossed all types of boundaries (territorial, social and political) to offer truly beautiful music.

The Flamenco album-book: Patrimonio de la humanidad (World Heritage) has been published to celebrate this crucial event in flamenco history. The album features the great performers performing the over 30 styles and some "natural encounters" with related music styles: Enrique Morente, Camarón, Paco de Lucía, José Mercé, Miguel Poveda, Estrella Morente, Carmen Linares… from the more traditional vocalists such as La Paquera de Jerez, Bernarda and Fernanda de Utrera, Caracol, Pericón, Chano Lobato, Chocolate, Rancapino and El Lebrijano, to the latest batch of young talents represented by Sandra Carrasco.

Likewise guitar players from the masters such as Sabicas to the generation of Juan Habichuela and Serranito to Manolo Sanlúcar, Tomatito and Cañizares up to Antonio Rey are represented. Including those that have taken flamenco to new places such as Pata Negra, Ketama, Tomasito, Diego Carrasco, Lole y Manuel, Chano Domínguez…

It features the full range of the flamenco universe from the past to the present, encompassing the different cantes, styles, vocals, quejíos and eras… The 4 CD pack also features a 40 page book with statements from performers on the impact of flamenco having been named Immaterial Cultural Heritage, a text on the history of flamenco with literary references, a historical timeline dating back to 1847 with information on the performers, albums and most important milestones; with a classification of styles and 5 beats with graphics of fandangos, soleá, bulería, seguiriya y guajira; bibliography and list of web pages on flamenco…
