Nowadays, the montera is the item of clothing that crowns the head of all matadores and banderilleros. Its use is relatively recent, and it is one of the elements in the bullfighting wardrobe that has evolved the most. Until the 19th century, the three-pointed hat was used, but from then onwards it is the montera that has been used - it is manufactured using a curly textile that is very similar to hair and plenty of velvet.
