It won the Latin Grammy award for the best flamenco record in 2000. After his success with José Mercé, Vicente Amigo returns with an album that is basically instrumental, although it is knowledgeably accompanied by the voices of Khaled, Dieguito el Cigala and Montse Cortés. There are modern and less purist airs in this Ciudad de las Ideas in which, through well-worked melodies, he achieves a very up-to-date flamenco, that brings it closer to all audiences. In this fourth work, the guitarist pays homage to the poet Konstatino Kavafis, and the record's title is taken from one of the poet's verses.

Walks a fine line between traditional and nuevo
It takes a keen intellect to be able to draw from two camps and come up with a work that can satisfy both. Traditional aficionados disdain anything that strays from the authentic roots, while nuevo enthusists demand a new twist to the familiar. Vicente has displayed a rare understanding of this division, and this recording is an excellent example of how to brigde the gap.
Vicente's guitar playing is tasteful and accute, while allowing the vocals to be the highlight for several of the tracks. The performances are heartfelt and convincing, inventive without pandering to slickness.

exepcional fusion
es un trabajo sin desperdicios todas y cada una de las pistas merecen la pena escuchar repetidamente.
la percusion es buenisima y la letra, aunque poca,mezcla muy bien
lo clasico con lo moderno.
y como no esas manos prodijiosas las cuales hacen creer que no es solo una guitarra la que suena.
lo recomiendo pero recomiendo mas el directo.
