An indispensable collection to learn, get to know and enjoy flamenco guitar playing, singing and dancing. A didactic description of the different palos (forms), the off-beat, palm clapping, measure, types of accompaniment, the speed of every dance... It is ideal for academies and for anyone who wants to study flamenco in their own house. It has 23 didactic volumes: 13 are normal and 10 are double; all of them are introduced by the bailaora (flamenco dancer) Cristina Hoyos.
This volume is devoted to the tarantos. "Originating from the taranta of Almería, its performance in singing is somewhat free insofar as its tercios (each of the verses that make up a copla in flamenco singing) are concerned, in some of which the cantaor (flamenco singer) and thus the bailaor as well, can improvise for their pleasure. Its expression is dramatic, basically referring to the pain of people working in the mines, which is why the dance is performed from the viewpoint of a tragedy, of broken-heartedness, with movements that express the pitiful lament that arises from the performers' entrails. It is a moving dance, which reflects the melancholy, pain and pathos of the situation".
