In the DVDs, viewers will see how the artist executes the complete dance. Afterwards, they can observe the same dance with a full-body view and at the end, the dance is repeated with the images focusing exclusively on the feet. Every exercise is preceded by its explanation in four languages. In the CDs, listeners will first hear the development of the complete dance, and later they will hear fragments of it, to study the zapateados (stepping movements with the toe,sole and heel of the foot that produce a rhythmic combination of sounds) and the different parts of the dance. This record is part of a new edition of the famous flamenco collection entitled “Series in a … style”, in which EMI and Hispavox brought together a large number of flamenco forms and styles. The content is distributed into two CDs because dancing in an alegrías style is divided into several different parts: baile, silencio, escobillas,... The first CD includes the rhythms of alegrías in two speeds: slow and fast. The second one is dedicated to the study of the taconeo (a rhythmic combination of sounds made by stepping with the heel of the foot) and includes escobillas (a section of the dance that includes the zapateado, a rhythmic combination of sounds made by stepping with the toe, sole and heel of the foot) in three speeds, to practice all kinds of taconeo without interruption. The feet that can be heard are those of the bailaor (flamenco dancer) Javier Barón. Singing, José Parrondo, and on guitar, José Manuel Roldan. The hand-clapping by Manuel Salado and Juan Reina is indispensable to follow the meter.
