Miguel Poveda, Eva Yerbabuena and Niña Pastori stars of the Noche Blanca del Flamenco 2011

On 18 June, Cordoba (Spain) will also pay homage to Enrique Morente

The Noche Blanca del Flamenco will be held on 18 June, according to the city’s mayor, Andrés Ocaña, and will kick off at 22.30 in the Tendillas square with a performance by the bailaora Eva Yerbabuena. The cantaoras Niña Pastori and India Martínez will offer a concert in Avenida República Argentina while a tribute to Enrique Morente will be held at the Plaza Corredera by two bands from his homeland, Lagartija Nick and Los Planetas.

The other main performances of the evening will be given by Miguel Poveda and the Orquesta de Cordoba and Diego Carrasco and Tomatito. The Patio de los Naranjos will host flamenco guitar performances by José Antonio Rodríguez while the courtyard of the Museo Arqueológico will host the guitar player and cantaor Javier Ruibal. Ocaña said that performances at Triunfo de San Rafael and the Plaza Cardenal Salazar are yet to be confirmed to finalize a “complete and varied program” for “flamenco lovers to enjoy”.

Our budget is of €465,000, like last year’s, and we hope to see up to 250,000 people attending the Noche Blanca del Flamenco 2011.

Like previous years, many taverns of the centre of the city will remain open for visitors to have a rest or a bite to eat.
